Linus Lundqvist completes positive Roar trials – all set for race week at Daytona

The #28 Alegra Motorsports entry, featuring Linus Lundqvist, has qualified in sixth place in the 22-strong GTD field ahead of this week’s Rolex 24 At Daytona sports car endurance classic.
The Alegra squad – which boasts a driver line-up consisting of Lundqvist (SWE), Maximilian Götz (GER), Michael de Quesada (USA) and Daniel Morad (CAN) – completed a trouble-free outing during the Roar Before the Rolex 24 trials, which traditionally precede the 24-hour race in the build-up to the event.

Lundqvist, who usually competes in single-seater machinery, slotted seamlessly into Alegra’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo and also partook alongside de Quesada in Sunday’s Qualifying Race (where teams nominate two of their drivers for a 100-minute “sprint”).
After de Quesada started the race, Lundqvist took over at mid-distance and brought the car home seventh in class – which leaves the Alegra crew sixth on the grid for the main 24-hour race this up-coming weekend after a fellow rival picked up a post-race penalty.

“It’s been a good few days here at the Roar and we’ve completed our test list,” says Linus Lundqvist. “For me, it was extra useful to do the qualifying race, as that really allowed me to pick up a lot about the car over a longer stint.
“Of course we’re not perfect yet, but nobody is at this stage. All in all, though, we have four fast drivers, we all enjoy this experience a lot, and I believe we have a solid platform for the big one.”
The Rolex 24 field now faces a few days of rest, before action resumes at Daytona International Speedway on Thursday and Friday with four concluding practice sessions.
The 60th edition of the Rolex 24 At Daytona goes green at 1:40 pm local time (U.S. Eastern) on Saturday.
